SS told DH that he is getting engaged this week.
As usual, SS bs'ed DH about all of this, telling him months ago that he planned on proposing to his GF but that he wanted her to meet "the family" prior to the proposal (choke); SS said there would be arrangements made for DH and I to meet the GF. I totally get that I'm not important in that mix; I don't expect to be. But, once again, DH was left out. Just quit with the lying and dangling carrots, guys. Just quit. SS has met the GF's parents; GF has met Bitter Mommy and SD. DH is the dog poop on the side of the road (DH could have easily flown out there had he been invited).
Next up: Another wedding. This time, likely NOT on Bitter Mommy's turf, which will make her very very uncomfortable. She won't have a posse of church people there to glare at us. I don't give a crap. I can be an actress and just be there to support my husband. And then be done with this BS. At least this stage of it.

Will the wedding be out of town? Or just on GF's turf? I was always the "spare" in the SK occasions, too. Looking back, I should have just enjoyed looking my best, detaching - being the attractive guest. Instead, I was on pins and needles the whole time. Steplife.....

I'm so sorry your DH has been left out of meeting GF and probably feels like a side of chopped liver in all this.
I have to say it's one of my nightmares that one of my SDs gets married and I have to go to the ceremony! Still, no sign of it atm, and neither of them seems able to keep a relationship going more than a year or two, they are both so difficult.

SS doesn't like anything about BM's area; it isn't home to him (Bitter Mommy and the SD crew moved there just a few years ago). Still, I can see BM politicking for her old turf a few hours away, where the skids grew up. GF's family is in New England, so I guess the wedding could be there. SS and GF are out west, which requires more travel for everyone. I know BM will be putting on the heavy pressure, as it is more difficult for SD to travel these days with a herd of small children. Wondering how poor GF will deal with the soon-to-be pressure and what will be more in the days to come. *Note that SS, pushing 40, finds a long-lasting girlfriend only after moving far from BM.
The only skid-related occasion I ever attended was SD's wedding, and I acted like all was well, although they did everything in their power to make us (especially me) feel unwelcomed and like outcasts. There's something particularly challenging to me in a situation like that. It gives me an opportunity to dig into my acting skills. lol.
I'm sorry you endured the pins-and-needles events.

For some reason, being chopped liver left on the roadside seems to be ok with him. Then again, I think it does eat at him at times, but he feels powerless in these so-called relationships. What we allow continues. All I can do is shrug at this point.
