TGIF, Step Chatters! ![]()
I briefly considered abbreviating that (like STalkers) when I realized it would be too similar to.... shat.
Oops! I don't believe that StepTalk was trademarked and probably could have used it. Maybe it's not too late to switch. Thoughts?
Eff off to:
● Work financial freezes and programmers thinking everyone is twiddling their thumbs. How about NO? This is, hands down, my busiest time of year. Licenses, certificates, data usage approvals all have to be reviewed, updated, and renewed. Tech writers do not just write quick reference guides and user manuals. I do everything from proofreading emails to troubleshooting Microsoft problems to fixing the document shredder using a screwdriver and needle nose pliers. Maybe I'll be able to take a day off for the holidays.
● So-called 'experts' who know don't know their jobs or think that I have zero knowledge about them. ![]()
"It can't be done that way."
"Did something change? This is from The Manual."
"Oh. I didn't realize you knew that. It's okay to do it that way."
● Medication side effects. 5 weeks in and I have worse acne than I did as a teenager. Pile on increasing sinus pain and the added bonus of cold sores... Yeah, I'm over it and not taking any more.
Forn Friday
Forn is 'food' and 'p0rn' combined.
It's apple season! There are so many apples on our trees that some of the branches have cracked.
Apples are so versatile: raw, baked, sweet dishes, savory dishes... what's your favorite way to use apples?
One Bowl Apple Cake
2 eggs
13/4 cups sugar
2 tsp cinnamon
1/2 cup oil
6 medium gala or fuji or honey crisp apples
Preheat oven to 350°. In a large bowl, mix the eggs, sugar, cinnamon and oil. Peel and slice the apples and add to mixture in bowl (coating as you go to keep apples from turning brown.)
Mix together the baking soda and flour and add to the ingredients in the bowl. Mix well (best with a fork) until all of the flour is absorbed by the wet ingredients.
Pour mixture into a greased one 9x13 or two 9″ round pans. Bake for approximately 55 minutes.

Eff 0ff: To... nothing. I have nothing today or this week worth telling to Eff 0ff. Next week will have some big Eff 0ffs. Wed I have my twice a year Retinologist appointment. Dilation, retina inspection, and possibly needles to both eyes. Not fun. But hopefully no needles next week. It has been a year or more since the Doc has recommended them. I am stable but not retinal hemorrhage free. She fired me part time a year ago so twice a year instead of quarterly. Thurday, Dentist. I have not been in 4 years when I broke a crown while on a flight for a vacation. Fortunately the half that remained on that tooth covered the thin part of the tooth so I was not in pain. I am sure I will get chewed out and likely the Doc will find some work that needs to be done. I am considering Invisalign or Smile Club to close a gap I have always had. My teeth are perfectly straight but my life long gap has been spreading a bit over the past several years. Not sure if I should care, but with non braces options to correct it, I may just do it.
F0rn: I am surprising my bride with a Moroccan thing this weekend. I cook but not to that level. So, off to Marrakech for a tagine feast on Sunday. Not the city, which I highly recommend as part of a Moroccan vacation if you have interest and get a chance to go. But to a highly recommended restaurant near the LV strip.
Have a great weekend everyone.

I think it would be OK to use "Step Talkers" rather than Chatters - sounds a bit more serious, maybe? The apple cake sounds nice. I rarely make cakes or puddings as for the amount of work that goes in - it all gets eaten very quickly! I love them too much.
Good luck at the Retinologist, Rags. My good friend (she has passed now) had Age Related Macular Degeneration, and had to go once or twice a year to Moorfields Eye hospital in London to have injections and other treatment.

STalkers is a natural. However, it is likely a good idea to reach out to Dawn to avoid any issues.
Sep Refugees maybe?![]()

I'm late, as usual.
Eff off to politics and the hateful un-united climate we're in right now. That's all I'm saying.
Eff ON and FORN to -- apple cake! yum! I was just telling DH how my mom made the best apple cake--such a perfect fall dessert!
Homemade tomato soup with grilled cheese sandwiches on crispy sourdough bread -- But ADD a lot of (preferably fresh) basil and some (fresh) thyme
And chili!
<--my favorite

Thanks Mia. I'm slobbering all over myself just reading this. Tomato basil soup and a crispy grilled cheese, I used to do crispy grilled ham and cheese, is a delicacy. Unfortunately, it is not something easy to make low carb so I do not have to turbo charge my insulin pump.
I am smelling and tasting it in my mind. Unfortunately, my salivary glands do not recognize the difference between food in reality and fantasy food.
(dog slobber).
ETA: The torture continues. Because you injected Tomato Basil Soup into my brain, I went to the pantry to get a packet of Tomato Soup. Our medicly supervised nutrician plan has a Tomato Soup packet. The tomato soup box was at the back of the soup shelf in our pantry, i grabbed the tomato soup box that was open and grabbed the last packet. I was excited.
I prepped the soup with basil and diced onion. Dumped in the powdered soup packet, added some chili sauce, and was getting ready to shake it when my brain tweaked on "why isn't the soup mix red?". I grabbed the open soup packet and .... not tomato soup. It was broccoli cheese soup. ![]()
I am married to a combiner. I am not a combiner. I leave things in their place in the correct box until the box is empty. Miss Combine does this combined thing frequently. "There is only one packet of that one left so I put it in the the other box."
While I enjoy the broccoli cheese soup. My tastebuds where primed for tomato.
The trials and tribulations in my life. Still dog slobbering btw.

I watch carbs, too. I believe sourdough has a lower glycemic index than other breads.
Hope you enjoyed your soup
