After. quiet day of no traumatic messages from SD65, .my stomach began to ease up but this morning brought more emergency pleas. I had heard that DD, DS and YSS were corresponding regularly about the matter. For the first time, I documented my feelings by text. I told them I'd been getting her upsetting texts but not replying and planned to block her. I said I wished her health and happiness. I said I could handle DH89, the house, the car, the Depends, could clean up the poo accidents, the doctors and rx and get up with him in the middle of the night. But I couldn't also deal with a mentally-ill disabled person who's a thief, liar and druggie. YSS called her, his comment afterwards was "What a mess". DD is calling the police and talking about a restraining order. They've also hooked in OSS so he's aware of the situation. YSS helped me figure out how to block her and I did. The doors and windows are locked.

I'm so glad to hear this. Thank goodness the other kids are stepping up. ((Hugs, JRI))

Were the emergency please from SD or her siblings?

Emergency pleas from SD. "Have Dad call, I'm in a shelter and have to be out by Tuesday." This is probably more honest, earlier it was "I'm in a hotel". Since Monday, it's been "Can you use your AAA to have my car towed, tell them blah blah" (no, I'm not going to do that), "I need .my car title" (if you default on another car loan, we won't pay like last time), "I don't have any money" (he's given you $1300 this past month plus you get $1200 monthly disability and have only 2 bills since youve been living with C rent free), "I don't have any food", and I can't recall all the rest of it.
I feel a huge sense of relief after blocking her and on the advice of DS and YSS, have blocked her daughter, C, too. I actually increased the volume of my incoming phone calls so I can really hear them now. According to DS, YSS is 150 percent committed, has a plan for temporary housing, the car and the legal problems. I frankly don't want to know the details unless they affect me.

I'm very pleased to hear this latest news about the blocking, and about the siblings stepping up, particularly YSS. I'm sure all of us on here have been worried about you and about how all this has been affecting you.

JRI, your post made me sigh with relief. Your SD is a danger to you and your husband. I’m so glad the kids are stepping in and putting a hard stop to that woman. And seriously, she has mental issues but she knows what she’s doing. She is a user and manipulator. Getting that restraining order in place will help you be able to rest. Best to you. And big hugs.

I'm so glad you blocked them and are feeling relief. Sad that it came to that.

Well done sweetie, you have, in good faith, given this woman the benefit of doubt for far too long. She has abused both you and her father, and you have been manipulated into feeling responsible for her poor actions and decisions.
The 'hard stop' that I recommended was something that we had to do after years of narcissistic manipulation and gaslighting . It's difficult, but your sense of relief will grow more and more. Your conscience should be clear because this is all down to her. ❤️

I'm feeling peace. I'm sure that feeling will grow, seenthight. I felt a slight panic this morning as I picked up my phone before I remembered I'd blocked them. As these events recede, I'll feel better all the time. The holidays are usually a bummer with SD ramping up drama and $ pleas cuz she lacks $ for her kids' gifts. I'd like to believe I'll escape all that this year. But, that's the future, right now, life is better.
Thanks, everybody, for your support. It's hard to believe strangers can give comfort over the net but it's been true. I sincerely appreciate each and every one of you.

Whew! So glad that family is coming through for you!

I so glad to hear that you have blocked them. It gives you peace and you can truthfully tell DH that you have not heard from her. (I would have no guilt for him not knowing that they are blocked).
I’m sure SD does not like the shelter. Shelters have rules. They expect residents to follow them. They are well acquainted with the ‘poor me’ resident and know how to deal with them. They know her playbook well and it will not work. There is help, but it comes with expectations and consequences that they will enforce.
At this point I equate SD to the alcoholic who has to hit their bottom before they can become sober. Now that her family has stopped propping her up, maybe, just maybe, she has hit her bottom, and will accept the shelter help.
Stay strong. Keep her blocked.

I got an update from YSS today. We both agreed I didn't want to hear details but she's going back to C's apartment. He's spoken to both and told both not to contact us. He has a lifelong experience with SD and was able to pick apart many lies but that's nothing new. Another twist is that a good friend of DH89 called her. This man was one of DH's running buddies from back in the day, a very close friend, a good human being. He had heard she was in a shelter (how, I don't know) and told her DH asked one time that if anything ever happened to him, to look after SD. YSS said, "He said look after SD, not you or me" - he was laughing. I fear for the friend getting tangled up in it all but I'm staying out of it. I told YSS that it he talks to Friend, to caution him not to become a pipeline to DH. I can see SD saying, "Will you ask Dad if xyz?" If Friend came over and asked DH, I'm sure DH would not refuse. YSS asked for his phone number but I haven't heard any more. It never ends but she's going back to C, we will see how long that lasts.

The last thing you and DH need is a well meaning friend taking up SD65's cause and coming to you for help for her - that would almost be worse than having to deal with SD directly. Perhaps this friend needs to be told clearly not to become a go-between.

YSS is calling him this morning.

Good for you JRI- enough is enough.

JRI, I am so glad the kids stepped up. This has been a long time coming. You and DH have done everything you can and there is just no saving this one. Only she can do that herself.
I hope the days ahead are filled with peace.
