sh!t is about to get real

We are officially calling cps in both states tomorrow to report educational neglect. In one state school started on August 5 and the other one August 18. DH spoke to the superintendent, the application for enrollment still hasn’t even been submitted. BM is up to at least 11 excuses of why not. Today we caught her in a lie about it all and can prove it. She also scheduled a therapy appointment for SD in the old state two weeks from today when SD should be in the other state in school. She has made it completely obvious she has no intentions of enrolling SD or her sister anytime soon. So she f*cked around and now it’s time to report her to CPS. Both states CPS is who investigates and reports it to court when there is educational neglect.

Re: sh!t is about to get real

What are the homeschooling regulations in her state? Few have any educational requirements for the adults.

It sounds like what she’s planning. If the dad has no court-ordered decision making power there will be little that he can do to stop it.

I hope CPS in those areas actually acts quickly.

Re: sh!t is about to get real

Here, CPS would eventually visit, but it might take a while (and more than one phone call). Here, homeschooling rules are lax and (if BM says that’s what she’s doing) they would give her time to do the (small amount of) paperwork.

Do I think BM might actually homeschool? Absolutely not. Do I think she might claim she is to get CPS off her case? Yep. Do I think homeschooling is appropriate for this child? No. Child has academic difficulty that BM is not equipped to address.

I do wonder what is going on with boyfriend? His call to DH indicates, to me, that all is not well there. If they are separating, BM may be looking for a new place to live. (Pure speculation on my part)

I am not sure what they are. Dh and BM have joint legal custody of SD. BM has started an enrollment application the enrollment office said today, but she has not put any of SD’s or SD’s information on it. She had almost two weeks ago gone to SDs old school to pick up records for the application and asked old school to call the new school the old school principal told DH, but that is it so far.

We believe BM doesn’t want to put the kids in school until after her honeymoon with boyfriend. We have known a wedding is coming per SD & BMs social media just not a clue when. BM and bf promised SD a bunny when she came back from our house. Last weekend SD said they weren’t getting the bunny until BM and bf return from honeymoon since no one would be home to take care of it. So assumption is BM is having kids stay in their old state with someone while they go on this honeymoon. Sd said they were going in two weeks. Which Sd isn’t the best in relaying time passing so it could be two weeks or a different timeline entirely.

Dh called today and the new state CPS was concerned, but they said it might end up the old state taking lead since like we assumed since the kids aren’t enrolled yet in school in new state and they haven’t lived there 6 months either. Old state DH said the person on the phone wasn’t that concerned sounding, but this was also just the hotline worker so we will have to see what happens next.

New state actually has super strict attendance and truancy standards. According to that state’s board of education, SD still earns hours being unexcused even though she isn’t enrolled yet because she was unenrolled from old school.

All I know is it is a hot mess and BM is trying to take advantage of this changing state thing and has no intentions of enrolling the kids in school until it is convenient for her.

Well, if she attempted to, DH would be taking her to court since Dh and BM have joint legal and he would never agree to homeschool especially with SDs educational issues plus BM not being remotely qualified for it.

Oh, I don’t think so at all. We have known a wedding is coming per SD and BMs social media just unsure when it is. I think what she’s been so “busy” about is planning the wedding. Last weekend SD said apparently BM and bf are going on honeymoon in two weeks for why they didn’t get the bunny they promised her yet since no one would be home to take care of it. So we think BM is trying to take advantage of this state change thing and enroll them when she gets back because she will have the kids staying with someone in the old state.
