DH invited OSS and YSS to go with him to visit their grandfather (DHs dad) and take the grandfather fishing. DHs reason was because his dad has been sick a lot, the skids haven’t seen him in years, and maybe for them to see their grandfather before he’s gone.
I recommended to DH that he point out I won’t be along since I have my own dad to see. He said he did.
OSS ghosted DH
YSS said he is sick
DH then decided not to go see his own dad and said it was because he had too much work.
Magically (I’m guessing the magic was done by BM) both of these adult skids were available for DH to pick them up and take them out to eat on his dime for Fathers Day.
He does not see his own hypocrisy that he doesn’t go see his own dad unless it’s a crisis, holiday, or set up by others but expects his kids to see him other than crises, holidays, or set up by others.
P.S. He is also not a good planner so he had never reached out to his dad so at least his dad wasn’t disappointed but he also set himself up for failure by not asking the skids until the Tuesday before. Both work and would have had to take a day off.

What a shame he didn't spend time with his father. ![]()

Taking his kids out for Father's Day. That's a good one. ![]()
Very sad that he didn't visit his own father.
Interestingly enough, my father wouldn't "allow" us to take him out for special occasions (I thought it was a generational thing), so what we did instead was cooked for him on his birthday and Father's Day. It was always a big deal. By the time I was 19, I was taking my mother (with my stepfather, who would fight with me about paying) out to really nice restaurants for special birthday dinners. I wasn't from a Leave it to Beaver family by any means; there was plenty of dysfunction. Still, there was basic respect and kindness (most of the time). It's so hard for me to wrap my head around this other stuff.

It’s too bad your DH didn’t see his father. Time is so short.
My DH doesn’t plan anything either. Never has.
In earlier years, he’d complain about missing his kids. I’d suggest he check flights and go see them. Nothing happened. Now that he’s older and can’t travel by himself, it’s too late because I will not go. I don’t even feel badly about it.
Neither skid called or even texted DH on Father’s Day. My bio and her DH did.

Thanks for the responses.
I didn’t ask because I was pretty sure of the answer but it came up with a question from the neighbor: DH did not call his dad on Fathers Day. (And that was my guess.)
His reason was that his dad was getting a lot of phone calls from his siblings so he didn’t want to pile on with his call. DH has a bunch of siblings but not like soccer team level of siblings.
Sooo…wouldn’t it be noticeable that every other child called but not DH? Given when I know of the family it’s a solid bet that all his siblings called and he was the odd one out.

A bunch of calls?? ![]()
Mr. Aniki was very happy that allow four of the skids called. He and SS27 spoke for 2 hours! SS23 took us out for lunch.

Yikes. Pretty lame on DH's part but it seems that skids are treating him the same way as he is treating his dad. The cycle sadly continues.
