As I have said before, a year or 2 ago I set boundaries with OSD29 that she is not to touch my things without permission and with YSD27 that she can't boss me around in my own home.
This boundary setting royally ticked them off and it was enough for them to storm off and stay away for many, many months. They did send DH a lame gift box and invited him to go on vacation with just the 2 of them, his widdle darlings. (He declined.)
YSD came back to test the boundary. She was disappointed to find that it holds firm and now she has taken off to do a 9 month temp job/housing situation in a remote area.
Now the "boss lady" has arrived. OSD29 is back to test the boundary. She has graced us with her dark cloud presence for over a week. I knew she would be back - despite DH wringing his hands that perhaps my (reasonable) boundary scared her away from our home forever. --- wishful thinking --- I also knew that when she returned it wouldn't take long for her to crack the fake "I'm trying," as she claimed DH that she is trying.
Trying what? Who knows?
She has found that I do not bow down to her, I am living my own fulfilled life and I do absolutely nothing for her. Her Dad gets to do it all. I am not rude to her, I am not passive aggressive to her, but I have withdrawn my attention and only engage when and if I choose, which is very little. I have no interest in pretending that we are friends or talking to her beyond courteous pleasantries.
She storms around and acts as if she is a poor victim. No one cleans up after her, washes her dishes or makes her special meals that fit her dietary demands, poor baby. She finally snapped and had her classic scream crying fit out on the lawn. Lol Funny because rose colored glasses DH had just told me how she won't even be around much this week, she has plans with her friends. He also told me that he doesn't think she'll act like a baby anymore, she has matured sooooo much. Lol. Nope. Reality is back. Popcorn is out.

29 years old and throwing a tantrum on the front lawn. I have no words. Wow.
Stay your position. I'd go as far to tell my DH, if she throws another fit on our front lawn, she will not be coming back in the house. You will pack her stuff for her. It's infuriating what we SMs have to deal with...and again, 29 years old. Then I think of JRI and her SD....my age. 64. SMH

You’re not waiting on her? Anticipating every need? Sacrificing yourself for her comfort? Yay you.
For a time my DH would tell me similar things: they’re trying, they do like you, they’ve matured. All wishful thinking.
A tantrum on the lawn. Yeah, that really demonstrates maturity. Did your DH address it with her, or ignore it, or try to fix it?
