Well That Didn't Last Long

Chef has finally been routinely taking his blood pressure meds, cutting back on salt (for about 2 months) and cutting back on booze (same period of time) He became a different person for the last 4 months.  I could literally critique him without him blowing up.  It was quite amazing.  Normally I'd expect the classic narcissistic angry outburst after DARING to say something critical (and not in a harsh way on my part whatsoever). He actually admitted that I work my arse off as well!  I did return to the office full time as a temp and going to be hired permanently basically to support the last project we are working on (4 family).  I told Chef this is it.  We'll have 11 doors in a semi economically depressed area, the only major employers being Big Medical, local government and Big Retail.  SEVEN loooonnnng years of constant remodeling expense.

Now something has changed again and I'm not sure if the meds are losing their effectiveness.  He started snapping at me in his usual style.  I reminded him that with 7 years of incessant gut rehabs, the prices shooting up over the last 5 years and our expensive commercial auto policy dropping us then having to find one that is over TWICE the old expensive policy, we are tight on money again.  He reacted "well you'll need to get a part time job as well as work full time then."  Which is insane and probably meant to get a rise out of me.  When I'm NOT working full time, I'm mowing and string trimming all the rental lots (albeit small), prepping one for a new tenant first week of June (my stellar tenant family stayed only about 16 months then moved to NH), going to a real estate conference first week of June, then caring for our own home including pet care and yard maintenance as well.

He's also bitching about taking the meds being a big waste of time, blah blah.  He had to take a blood test this morning for the standard info as well as prostate test.  Every so often these tests scare him into compliance so I can only hope.

Re: Well That Didn't Last Long

He probably stopped taking the meds because he felt better so figured he didn't need them.  Here's hoping the blood work scares him straight for a few more months.  My DH could care less how unhealty he is, he just gets loaded up on more pills.
