Spring is almost here...

I was packed for a business trip to fly out to Houston on Wednesday AM. At about 8PM Tues night my right hear started to get a bit painful and swell. So, que up my half a dozenth round of cellulitis on my face. Usually right side though occasionally on the left. I tried to do the tele-doc service through my insurance and ended up spending all night Tuesday night in "conversation" with the AI bot.
That was useless. The Doc finally messaged me at about 3:30AM we traded a couple of messages with me answering questions. Doc never replied to my last message. So, at 0700 I headed to the Quick-Care by our home. Google ended up being wrong. They did not open at 0700, the opened at 0800. I was an hour early. I was getting the chills and feeling like crap, so I canceled my 10AM flight, messaged my team in Houston and watched the teaming herd of Quick-Care patients start milling at the door. I had watched staff show up over about 45mins. They went in the side door. When they unlocked the main door a young mom with a baby in a stroller and about a 5yo was taken straight to the check in counter. Then the crowd was shushed back and the nurse waved me forward to the check in screen. "You were here when I got here. You go first." That got some grumbles but I accepted the opportunity. The screen was booting up when I stepped up to it. I had to work with it to get it working but after about 5mins it accepted my registration. 5 minutes later I was taken in for vitals and then to the exam room. 5 minutes after that the Doc walked in. looked at my frisbee sized ear, confirmed cellulitis, listened to my chest and heart, Rxd the same meds I received every other flare up. Not counting the hour long wait for them to open, I was out in about 20mins. Stopped by the Walgreens 2Mins from the Quick-Care clinic and 3mins from our home. Got the oral and otic drop monster antibiotics, went home and slept all day after reviewing the client presentations for Houston, Webster, and Fulshear. Then I slept all day. DW got home at about 8PM, I made dinner, we ate, then I went to bed and slept all night. I rarely in my life have slept for nearly 24hrs straight. Thursday, I monitored my team but mostly napped. Swollen glands in my R jaw, ear extremely swollen, dark red, and hot. By bedtime I was wiped out. Couldn't sleep. Finally crapped out at about 0300.
This AM my bride woke me up 0800 to say goodbye before leaving for work. I was out cold within a few seconds of our AM kiss and me telling her to drive safely. The... I hear a crash and a squawk followed by "Rags! There's so much blood!" I levitated out of bed, ran down the hall to find my bride holding her face in her hands with blood pouring out of from between her fingers, a pool of blood on the floor. I grabbed a bunch of paper towels, led her to our home office chair not far away keeping her on the hard floors and we got the blood flow under control with direct pressure. She had a 1" laceration above her R eyebrow. She had dropped a sock and had reached down to pick it up, overbalanced, and fell into our drink fridge hitting the center of the right lense of her on the corner of the fridge. That pushed her glasses into her face with the edge of her very thick lense cutting her above her brown.
I cleaned it up with sanitary wipes, put a multiple fold thick gauze pad on the laceration and tightly surgical taped it to her forehead. Off to the Quick-Care we went. Two stitches and a TDAP booster later, and we headed home. If it had been a contact lense day and she had not been wearing glasses, it could have been a very severe eye injury. Even a lot of blood and pain can be a great outcome considering the possible alternative.
I am so glad that this week is over. Now for a weekend of CountingMutant (CPA) tax season insane hours and I will hover and worry and catch up on my own work.
I hope everyone has a safe, comfortable, and healthy weekend.
And, Ramadan Kareem S-Chat.
So the week really isn't over.

Not the best couple of days for you and Mrs Rags - hope you both feel better soon!

Thank you both. It was a stay in weekend except for a quick run for groceries by me. The cut is healing well. My face/ear are mostly calmed down and the shedding lizard phase of cellulitis recovery is commencing. For about a week be shedding sheets of skin from the impact of the swelling and infection.
5 more days of horse pill antibiotics.![]()

Thank you. We are both at the sore stage at this point. My swelling is mostly down though I have another 4.5 days of horse pill antibiotics to go. Aside from dealing with the infection, my body hates antibiotics so my early Sr. citizen digestive track is in revolt.
DW's cut is barely notable and since she trimmed the 1" wing threads of the stitches it basically looks like a mascara smear above her R eyebrow. The stitches can come out as early as tomorrow with Doc advice being 5 to 7 days from needlework to removal.
A workday for me right now is interspersed with 2-3 20min naps.
But other than that, we are good.
Thanks again.
