Update on SD64 and DH88

Things are finally quieting down here after all the upset in December.  Right before Christmas, I learned that SD64 had been renting out the condo we bought for her to live in.  Several days later, she ID'd on Prozac and broke her shoulder and arm in several places.  We were dealing with DH's upcoming heart valve replacement which he barely understood due to his dementia.  He was kicking and screaming every inch of the way.  So, between those issues, the usual Christmas stress and 3 tax bills due by year-end, my brain was fried.

Now, DH's op is over and all went well.  I knew there was a chance the anesthesia could intensify his dementia and that has happened.  He's suddenly more frail, sometimes has trouble rising from a sitting position, is still sleeping a lot and is now resistant to bathing.  But, so far, things are ok, he's still his funny self.  I don't speak to SD64 but the 2 times he's spoken to her, he's handed me the phone.  I've decided the one topic I will discuss with her is his condition so I give her the update and hand back the phone.  He seems satisfied with that level of contact between her and me.  The condo will be on the market soon.  I'm not sure whether he remembers that but it's happening anyway.

C, SD64's daughter, cleans for me weekly. I think he's able to get his SD fix from her.  I think he gives her $ forcSD.  Old habits die hard but it comes from his "allowance" and means we go to the casino more seldom. His decision

So, that's the latest at Chez JRI.  I haven't been on here much and miss you all. Between taking care of him, the Dr appts I'm not sure where the time goes.  But it's all 1000 times easier if I don't have to deal with The Grifter

Pleased to hear that DH came through his op OK.  It's good that you have little contact with SD64.

Re: Update on SD64 and DH88

Glad to hear the op was successful. Hopefully, the condo will sell quickly and your contact with SD64 is minimal.

Re: Update on SD64 and DH88

JRI,  I am relieved to hear that DH's valve replacement went well and that there is growing distance and peace related to SD-64.  Selling the condo is likely going to improve the entire situation as well and return some resources to you.

Never forget to take care of yourself through all of this.

Sincere regards,
Rags

Re: Update on SD64 and DH88

Thanks for the update. I think about you often.

Hope the anesthesia effect lessens over time. My DH just had had surgery and it was a worry for me, too. Coupled with pain killers, just being vigilant is exhausting. I didn’t have to interact with my skids, but chances are I’ll need to at some point. It’s not fun.

It's so hard to wrap my brain around Skids in their 60s still acting like skids in their teens.

Glad your DH is doing as well as he is and that you're have very little contact with SD.

Happy to hear from you!! Glad things are getting better. Your stance with SD64 is perfect. No contact except to give medical updates on her father.

Much love to you!!

Re: Update on SD64 and DH88

I'm so glad your DH's surgery was successful. You have so much on your plate, & I despise your amoral SD for the way she's taken advantage of you.
You might want to explore the services offered by your city/county's Adult Protective Services. SD should be held accountable for her actions.
