Onnellista uutta vuotta! (Happy New Year!)

Every Christmas all my life.

My kid is a freak for SnickerDoodles. My dad is an oatmeal cookie junkie. So both are staples for Christmas though neither is necessarily a Christmas cookie. I will have to see if I can do a spy mission to snake the recipes from my bride and my mom.
I love them all. Though we do not have them in our home. Ever. I have not upgraded my insulin pump with the super charger option. Though when we are at my parents and my bride and my mom are tag-teaming and doing their baking and cooking magic together, I have been known to make a middle of the night acquisition mission downstairs to raid the cookie horde.

Lemon Italian cookies
2 sticks butter melted
1 cup sugar
½ cup sour cream
3 eggs beaten
1 teaspoon vanilla or lemon extract
Beat eggs, add sugar, sour cream, and vanilla. Whisk together, add cooled, melted butter and mix well.
4 cups flour
¼ teaspoon baking soda
2 teaspoons baking powder
Add dry ingredients to wet ingredients. Mix with wooden spoon until soft dough forms. I use a kitchen aid mixer…this is an old school recipe though.
Drop by rounded teaspoon onto lightly greased cookie sheet….i just round them in my hands.
Bake 375 degrees 8-10 minutes on middle rack in oven.
Frost when cooled.
Frosting
¼ cup milk
Confectioners' sugar
Flavoring of your choice lemon/ anise

Favorite of ours. We leave out the orange. Use lemon juice sometimes.
