A New Low for SD64 Update

SD64 had a seizure today.  She's in the hospital, still quite confused and with a broken shoulder from the fall.  The nurse says she's not alert enough for visitors.

Last time I wrote, I'd been told SD64 was renting the condo we bought for her to 2 men.  The daughter she lives part time with, C, swears that's not true tho SD64 allows C's baby daddy to rest there after therapy sessions for broken ankle.  We went by late last night and saw no cars in the designated parking spaces tho a light was on.  I had told SD64 I was putting it on the market next month.  My 2 bio kids are adamant that I go ahead.

So, things are in limbo right now.  DH88 worries about her and wants to do something tho I don't know what that would be.  SD64 has strained relations with her other 2 kids, K and M.  I texted M the details and asked her to forward the info to K.   I also texted SD's 2 brothers.  DH88 wants to call C endlessly for info but with his dementia, has trouble calling anybody.  I know his fantasy back in the day would have been for us to swoop into the hospital and keep a vigil. But, he can't even walk from the parking lot to the entrance without resting, much less long corridors.  Plus, I think it's time for SD64's kids to step up.  I feel like we have done more than our share over the years.  I realize her kids have their own busy lives with demanding jobs and kids and they have justifiably strained relations with her.  But, she's their mom.  So sad, too bad, don't tell me how tough it is to care for a parent, I lived it.

Stay tuned, I promise, the drama never stops around here.

“But, she's their mom.”

And, thankfully, you’re not hers…

Yes, her kids definitely need to step up. You and DH have enough to deal with now. 🙏

Re: A New Low for SD64 Update

When the usual helpers don't step forward, it forces the non-helpers to step in. Just 2 weeks ago, we were there with a family member and stayed out of a situation that could easily have resulted in homelessness for this person. When push came to a real hard shove, a daughter and an ex magically appeared (one of them hinting that someone else should have stepped in).

Hold your ground and stay steady. Like you say, you all have done enough.

When someone shows you who they are, believe them.

SD64 is doing better but still somewhat confused.  Nurse says too much medication, Prozac.  She will be at the hospital at least one more night.

So, on top of everything else, she ODd.  Uggh.

Though as someone on daily meds for a chronic condition, I have done it any number of times. Though in my case it is based on BG readings and setting correction doses of insulin.  Only once have I ended up hospitalized for it.  Though 40+ years ago in a galaxy far, far away.

I hope that SD-64 can stabilize for DH's peace of mind.
