Not strictly the topic although it could come under the heading of resources. I noted that on Step Talk, a lot of women talked about their partners being on the spectrum - as was my first husband - and I thought this very good article might strike a chord with some of you, it did with me - especially the section about birthdays.

My husband is definitely NT. It’s me who is ND, although, like most women who are ND I try to mask with…poor results. However, we are both introverts, so our situation (surprisingly) works. Interesting article, thanks!

I'm hesitant to allow the syndrome of the moment pseudo sciences to distract from reality and behaviors. I get that ASDs are a thing. However, the frequency they are DXd is IMHO a pure fabrication by people trying to make a career for themselves and not generally legitimate in far more than most of the DXd cases.
I fell for some of this in my first marriage. My XW had a DX of dyslexia. Her particular version was IMHO not dyslexia it was lazi-lexia. She was extremely smart, highly academically successful, yet...... could not read any words more than about 3 letters. I ended up writing all of her written assignments over her last 3yrs of her undergraduate degree. After some time I got to where I demanded she read the papers I had written out loud or... I would not allow her to use them or turn them in. She tried the "dyslexia" crap, but, no read it out loud, write you own damned papers. For some reason, she could read it all without pause or error.
Behavior matter, excuses don't. Unfortunately way too many DX's of the pseudo-science syndrome of the moment are just excuses for crap behavior and to make crap parents feel better about themselves.
Mean I know. But, not entirely false by any means.

A friend's daughter was "diagnosed" (by a teacher ...) dyslexic at age 8 because she couldn't spell. So she looked into the situation via specialists. Turned out that her daughter wasn't dyslexic at all. So what about all the misspellings? Well, her daughter just felt that the words were prettier written like that.
