I wanted to check for any last minute posts and the site is now closed with a link to this one. I joined STalk 11 years and 2 months ago and was a Moderator for the last four years. The end of an era. I'm not crying. You're crying. ![]()

I'm feeling sad as well, Ani! And BTW, I keep trying to 'up-vote' this or that insightful post but nothing there!
Is it possible to bring back the 'up-voter'?

I was sad to see it has now closed. I was a member there for over 14 yrs and I often say it saved me. Just to feel that it's not just you - that step families are damned difficult and you're allowed to find it so. And am so grateful for this new place!

I have also been on auto-pilot when looking for that up-vote button! 😟

Up-vote?? Do you mean Like?

My understanding was that up-votes move a comment higher in rank whereas likes keep the comments in the order of post time.
I will look into it.

Oh shoot, I should've checked how many years ago I joined before it went down. I think 13 years ago, when my SD (and her husband and 2 kids) wanted to "stay" with us . Steptalk saved me from a massive guilt trip after I told my husband, "Absolutely not!"

For whatever weird reason, I remember that you have 2 years on me, so 13 years and 2 months. ![]()

I went and checked too and it was done. Sad but happy. Sad that it closed, happy so many of you are here.

I was a 12-year member. I was mistrusting what I was experiencing, like the whole world was gaslighting me.
I learned about boundaries and speaking up for myself and closing my wallet. And that astounds me. In my non-step life I have always been confident, displayed leadership, spoke up. That person left the building when steps entered I guess.
Haven’t spoken to SD in 3 years. I’ve said hello to SS in passing when he’s on the phone to DH. I no longer feel like I must be the crazy one.
Thank you, Steptalk. Hello, Stepchat. Glad to be here.

I had to take one last look, too. While I rarely posted, I think I was a member for nine years or so, under three different user names. I learned so much. Figured out how to set boundaries with both the skids and the husband. I truly credit Steptalk with saving my marriage. And my sanity.
Aniki, one more thank-you for getting this new site set up for us. I would feel so adrift without you all! ![]()

I've been on here since day one when my step son verbally abused me. It has helped me greatly along the way, in knowing that I am not alone in dealing with troubled step kids. In knowing what to do. And that I do have power over my life
Wanted to also add that I love the idea of keeping the "like" button. Just a button to say you agree with the sentiment of the reply or post. To "heart" it, in other words, agree with it...

I am looking into it. This is a completely different platform from STalk. Part of the reason for its closure was that the current platform was no longer supported and a complete overhaul/rewrite was needed to move forward. I have programming skills, but that is not my forte. So, looking... ![]()

20 yr member here. I remember "Endora" who had a manchild skid named "Skippy" and who would ride around in guilty daddy's shopping cart... he didn't even fit into it!
Then there was another member who used to vacuum loudly whenever her skids were in the house and used exclusively paper plates and plastic cutlery because they were throwing out the good cutlery which I can attest to happened at my place!
For a time one of the posters claimed to know the Girhippo clan and Chef and threatened to "out" me. Truth be told our stories were so similar because the BMs were reading off the same script that it could have been anyone's HCGUBM, skid and guilty daddy.

I was on for over 10 years. End of an era.
