Hi everyone

I made it over to this new site!  Thanks, Aniki!

I haven't posted in awhile but some may remember my blogs on my SD, Bratty McBratFace.

Bratty is now 27 and finishing their first year of med school in the Chicagoland area.  They are enjoying it and the good thing for the rest of us is that she is finally too busy to cause any drama LOL.  We don't have much interaction except on a monthly family Zoom call.  She doesn't really call DH at all anymore except a text on Father's Day and holidays.  DH is a bit sad that she doesn't want to interact much with him anymore but since I'm disengaged I really don't care how much they do or don't talk.

Otherwise life is mostly good.  We lost my Dad a couple of months ago to pancreatic cancer.  DH and I drove 4 days across country to spend a couple of months with him and Mom (along with our now almost 3 year old golden retriever!).  DH worked from home there and we got to spend Dad's last weeks with him, and help Mom sort the estate after he passed.  I was lucky to be able to do that and grateful that DH was onboard with driving so we could have our pupper with us as well.

And speaking of pup, she is doing great.  Such a good girl, she is now a certified therapy dog and we volunteer at the airport once a month, and at our local hospice a week.  She loves swimming, the beach, hiking, and just following me around the house all day.  My heart dog.

DH will be retiring in a couple of months after 35 years with his company.  After some decompression time, we plan to buy an RV in 2026 and travel the country for months at a time, with our 2 cats and the dog joining us.  I definitely want to spend a whole summer exploring Alaska, and we want to do a tour of the National Parks.

Though I haven't posted much lately (which is good since it means no step drama) I have peeked at the site from time to time.  I wish everyone is able to find some peace with their step world, and and glad Aniki created this new board so everyone will still have a safe place to vent.

Re: Hi everyone

Hey! Great to hear from you and the good update! We did a lot of RVing before and after retirement. Lots of fun! Glad Bratty got into med school finally....let's hope she stays focused.

Re: Hi everyone

Hi caninelover. We are canine lovers now too, with a 11 month corgi puppy. It's been amazing having a dog. She is a very silly and loving puppers. Makes us laugh all the time.
Good news about bratty. Was she the one that had originally wanted to be a mermaid? Sounds like she's not causing drama which must be nice.

Sorry to hear of the loss of your dad
