Onnellista uutta vuotta! (Happy New Year!)

This story is from last summer. I was concerned about GN because her fiance's young daughter and ex began acting out once GN and fiance got engaged. All the signs were there. The day (?) before the wedding, fiance bolted. Best thing that could have happened to GN.
So, GN did a rebound, but not with a man: GN bought herself a house!
I am so proud of her! It's the best rebound I've ever heard of. And, of course, she's using all the wedding presents people told her to keep. ha!

Wonderful ending to what was becoming a very convoluted story! Hope she got to recoup some of the wedding costs (or that they fell onto the fiancés parents).

I am so happy to hear a happy ending to this story. Good for your g-niece. She dodged a bullet.
A couple of years ago my friend's daughter had a similar experience except she broke up with the bloke who had a son. My friend asked her daughter "What are YOU getting out of this? (relationship)" Because the bloke and his son were drama. Thankfully my friend's daughter saw the light and broke it off. She went on to find a wonderful childless man and they are now happily married and going to start a family of their own.

Let me add another happily ever after…
My bio really struggled during her late teens/early 20s. Dated All The Wrong Guys.
One of the Mr. Wrongs found an abandoned puppy, just weeks old, that my daughter bottle fed. She had an older dog as well.
Mr. Wrong got tired of the dog centric household. So he declared, it was either him or the dog.
She chose the dog.

I do so love happy endings like that! She made a real investment in her future there!
My flatmate throughout university was engaged to a (pretty controlling, but she couldn't see it) guy since they were teenagers.
In our final year, she started to really plan her wedding. I will never forget the purchase of her wedding dress, a bit bohemian, very simple, but it could have been made for her. It didn't even need alterations! How rare is that! Anyway, on the evening she was going to tell him she'd bought the dress (gawd, she was so excited), he got in the first strike and told her he'd been sleeping with someone else and that the wedding was off. Guess what? She married him 3 years later.
