BM will only always care about BM
So this morning BM asked to call SD to wish her a Merry Christmas. So after brunch with the family, DH took DD to put her down for nap so I told SD she could call BM in the living room. For whatever reason SD put the call on speaker and within 2 minutes of the call BM said “Santa forgot you.. just kidding he brought you presents here.”
Like what is wrong with her? Then like two minutes after that SD’s sister says “the tree is overloaded with presents for you.”
Literally every year BM says something to upset SD on Christmas when she is here.
We never try and make SD sad or feel bad like that. Plus BM told SD her new man and his parents were there. She definitely has not wasted any time.

Kids put every call on speaker phone. It's the weirdest thing. And then act like you're not supposed to be listening.

I wonder if BM would pull this if she knew you all were listening. Perhaps in the future, make your presence known to her. Facetiming with you all in the background waving?

Some kids completely lose the parent lottery on one side or the other. Often those kids are CODs and one side or the other is a total write off in the parent quality arena. The side of total character bankruptcy pulls this kind of 
on the kid to undermine and PAS the kid regarding the quality side of the kids gene pool.
If you can't listen and learn, you will have to feel. WLR
