Beer Bread

Beer Bread

  • 3 cups flour, sifted
  • 3 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1-12 oz beer, room temp*
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted

[list=1]
  • Preheat oven to 375°.
  • Mix dry ingredients  together.
  • Mix in beer.
  • Pour into greased loaf pan (make sure bottom is well-greased!). Smooth out any big peaks.
  • Pour butter over the top.
  • Bake for 1 hour.
  • Remove from pan and cool for 15+ minutes before slicing.

  •  NOTES:Sifting the flour is crucial! You don't want a brick. If you prefer a softer crust, mix the melted butter into the batter.Best beers to use for flavor: lager, porter, stout, brown ale.

    Re: Beer Bread

    I can vouch for the beer bread, and I’m a pretty good baker. Super easy, super tasty. Easy to add other ingredients. I’ve used walnuts, rosemary, whole grains, dried cranberries, probably other things I can’t remember.

    I have to admit I have only added garlic and cheddar. DH doesn't like nuts, but is okay with herbs and fruit. I want to make a loaf with Fruli, which is a strawberry flavored beer.
